Material selection is a requirements question before it is a product-name question. Start by describing the job, the environment and what a useful result looks like.
General guidance: these principles help prepare an enquiry. They do not confirm Electrovo’s equipment, stocked materials, capabilities or achievable tolerances.
Define the loads and movement
Will the part support weight, flex, absorb an impact or stay rigid? State how forces are applied and whether they are occasional or repeated. A material’s published test value is not automatically the performance of a finished printed part. Shape, process, orientation and settings can all influence behaviour.
Describe temperature and exposure
Tell the manufacturer about expected temperatures, sunlight, moisture and contact with oils or cleaners. Conditions in use may differ from room-temperature handling. A material that suits a display model may be unsuitable near heat or under a sustained load.
Separate appearance from function
For a visual model, surface quality, colour and detail may be central. For a component in an assembly, fit and mechanical behaviour may take priority. If both matter, identify the visible faces and the features that must function so the trade-offs can be reviewed.
Treat common material names as a starting point
Names such as PLA, PETG, ABS and TPU describe broad material families used in some forms of 3D printing. Individual grades and manufacturing processes differ, so the family name is not a complete specification. This guide does not state that Electrovo stocks or offers those materials.
Ask for evidence where it matters
Food contact, medical use, electrical performance and safety-critical loads need an appropriate assessment of the complete part and application. A raw-material label or a general online guide does not certify the finished result. Flag these requirements before a quotation is considered.
You can choose “not sure”
If you do not know the material, describe the intended use and the conditions instead. In your Electrovo enquiry, include any existing part to match, important dimensions and appearance preferences. Available options and suitability are confirmed during review.
