THE ELECTROVO GUIDE

What affects the cost of 3D printing?

Two parts of the same outside size can involve very different work. A useful quote considers the design, the manufacturing approach and the agreed result.

General guidance: these principles help prepare an enquiry. They do not confirm Electrovo’s equipment, stocked materials, capabilities or achievable tolerances.

Geometry and material use

A part’s outer dimensions do not tell you how much material it needs. Wall thickness, internal features and the intended construction all matter. Different manufacturing processes also use material differently. A quote needs the actual geometry or a sufficiently clear brief, rather than only a bounding box.

Production time and setup

The manufacturing approach, orientation, feature detail and process settings can affect production time. Preparing a job and checking its output also take work. A simple change to the design may reduce complexity, but the trade-off should be considered against what the part needs to do.

Support and post-processing

Some geometries and processes require temporary supports or other preparation. Removing supports, cleaning, assembling or finishing a part can add work. Accessible surfaces and delicate features may affect how that work can be carried out. Any finishing requested should be part of the agreed specification.

Material and performance requirements

A request driven by heat, repeated flexing, impact or exposure may require a different approach from a model made only for appearance. Specific requirements can influence feasible materials and production choices. Those options need review; this guide is not an Electrovo material price list.

Quantity and consistency

Producing several identical parts can share some setup work, but quantity is not the only consideration. Layout, checking, handling and consistency requirements may affect the quotation. Do not assume a fixed bulk discount or minimum order without discussing the actual project.

How to get a useful quote

Provide the model, dimensions, quantity and intended use. Identify what is essential and what is flexible. If a desired date or finish matters, say so from the start. Electrovo confirms the price and specification after reviewing the enquiry; the website does not calculate instant prices.
